This has generated more than AU$3 billion+ in private investment and provided more than 23,200 employment opportunities for local cast and crew. To date, the Location Incentive has helped to attract 39 international productions to Australia. The Location Incentive grant total is AU$540 million for eligible projects commencing from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2027.
This grant complements and is in addition to, the Government’s existing 16.5% Location Offset tax rebate. The Location Incentive grant is a merit-assessed grant, where funding may be offered up to 13.5% of a project’s Qualifying Australian Production Expenditure.
Since the Australian Government’s introduction of the Location Incentive grant, Australia has secured 39 international film and television productions to shoot throughout Australia.
